|What is Meloplasty?||
A Meloplasty or facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to remove loose skin from the cheek and upper neck region.
|Would this procedure be suitable for me?||A facelift is suitable for people who are concerned about excess sagging around the lower cheek or “jowl” area, and neck. Wrinkles on the upper lip, corners of the mouth, eyes and forehead are not improved by this operation (other surgical procedures or injectable treatments can assist with these areas).|
|How is this procedure performed?||Excess skin from the face is removed and the superficial facial muscles are tightened. Contouring of the neck region is achieved by removal of excess fat and loose skin, giving a much more defined neck and jawline appearance.|
|What are the complications of
|Scars are carefully placed in the creases of the ear, and in the hair behind the ear. Sometimes it is also necessary to remove excess fat from below the chin, so a small scar is carefully placed in this region. Bruising and swelling is common and may last for several weeks. Some temporary numbness of the cheeks can occur.|
|Will I be hospitalised and what is the recovery period?||A facelift is performed under General Anaesthetic in our Day Surgery Centre or in a hospital environment. The recovery period varies from person to person, but most people return to basic activities after two weeks. No strenuous activity is advised for six weeks.|

|The aim is to appear refreshed and more youthful with noticeable changes in the neck, lower cheeks and jowls. It is very important people have realistic expectations regarding the outcome of their surgery.|
