Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

Meet Joanne Heggie/Qualifications

Joanne Heggie is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years experience in cosmetic injectable treatments.

Joanne has worked extensively with Dr James Katsaros (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon) since the 1990’s, offering non surgical options to our clients. She also has extensive theatre experience working in the cosmetic surgery area.

In 2005 Joanne moved to Townsville, where she built up a full-time injecting practice at Queensland Plastic Surgery. Here she regularly travelled to Mt Isa, Cairns, Rockhampton, and MacKay servicing these areas with injectable treatments, before returning to Adelaide in 2008.

Upon her return to Adelaide, Joanne recommenced her practice at North Adelaide Day Surgery, and now specialises entirely on the non surgical injectable treatments.

“I have been in the cosmetic industry for a long time now, and have seen many treatments come and go. One thing that has not changed, is the decision to have cosmetic injectables, can still be a daunting one.

Researching procedures on the internet and social media is for most people the way to start. Then comes the decision of who to see? Referrals are a great way to go, but many people still keep their decision to treat private. My suggestion is do your research and find a practitioner who is experienced, and also someone you feel comfortable with. Do they themselves have treatment, and how do they look? Have a consultation and see if they are the right fit for you. Also, does this person dabble in these treatments, or do they specialise and do them on a daily basis?

So, what can be achieved with non surgical treatments? Shouldn’t we just age gracefully? When we flick through the celebrity magazines, many of us make judgements on who has had “work”, and if so why so some people look great and others look strange?

The answer is harmony. When we treat an area and it fits with the rest of the face, it does not create distractions to the eye. So the art of ageing gracefully, is ageing harmoniously. The last thing we want to do is create an imbalance, this is when people look like they have had treatment. So the answer to good treatment is balance, and keeping natural features of the face. This is crucial in achieving a good aesthetic outcome.”
